THE SHiFT DIFFERENCE
Since SHiFT was founded in 2020, we have worked alongside children, young people, and their families in seven SHiFT Practices.
198 children and young people have already worked with a SHiFT Guide.
By the end of 2024, SHiFT will have reached 243 children and young people.
41% reduction in proven offences.
58% reduction in reported missing episodes.
51% reduction in arrests.
Cost effectiveness
Doing the right thing and making ‘the SHiFT difference’ for children, young people and families also realises savings to the public purse. Economic analysis conducted by Cornish & Grey found that for each child considered:
• Potential future public costs avoided in the next five years ranged from £1.8M to £164K.
• Costs avoided by breaking cycles of crime now ranged from £2.5M to £700K for each child up to the age of 40.
